This role is ideally suited to a Part II qualified architectural assistant with experience in residential property development. Based at our Hemel Hempstead office and working on a prestigious range of residential developments in the North Home Counties you will play a key part in the company’s development.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Produce Design and Access Statements using InDesign
  • Assist with the production of feasibility reports, design proposals, planning application packages and detailed working drawings
  • Produce and update drawing schedules
  • Produce 3D site models in Sketch-Up
  • Liaising, co-ordinating with other departments regarding development works including Architectural Technicians, Planners and Land Buyers
  • Communicate and sketch design ideas with hand-drawings
  • General project co-ordination and project filing
  • Report regular updates on project development to the project architect
  • Assisting other members of the Design Department in their day-to-day duties
  • Co-ordination with external professional consultants
  • Liaison with local authorities and utility service providers
  • Offer coaching and guidance of trainees within the department
  • Reference and keep up to date with current statutory requirements/design standards and liaise with project architect and other drawing office work colleagues in respect of compliance with statutory requirements
  • Provision of AutoCAD format drawings to assist in the preparation of brochure information and sales literature
  • Attendance at design coordination meetings and preparation of minutes for the meeting
  • Attendance at office, construction and site meetings from time to time
  • Assist with projects as needed and such other duties, reasonably consistent with the foregoing, as may be required
  • Adhere to the RIBA Code of Professional Conduct

About you

You will have excellent communication skills and be completely fluent in the English language. This includes being able to produce required written documents to a high standard of English. You will be extremely proficient with AutoCad, Photoshop and Sketch-Up. Your presentation skills will be of an excellent standard and you will be capable at creating hand drawings. You will also have a solid understanding of urban design principles and spatial arrangements in residential construction. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in residential developments in the UK from individual houses to large scale regeneration projects. You will be a strong communicator, self-motivated, confident with the ability to work autonomously as well as in a team. You will have a good understanding of current Building Regulations, NHBC Standards.

If you are Part 1 qualified you must have at least 2 years experience and this must be in residential developments but ideally you will be a Part 2
