We are continuing to expand from our East Scotland office (moving to a new office in Newbridge in March) and with residential schemes planned across the East Central Belt we are seeking an experienced Land & Planning Manager in this brand-new role. Previous experience with a recognised house builder will be an essential requirement for this role.

Reporting to the Senior Land Manager, within the Land team and working closely with the technical team. This exciting role will be focussing on sites in Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian, Falkirk, Stirling, and surrounds. There will be some planning work relating to existing projects in wider Scotland.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Managing applications, and amendment applications, through the planning process.
  • Managing the discharge of conditions.
  • Represent the company with local authorities, stakeholder meetings and community engagement.
  • Provide planning advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Responding to government policy consultations.
  • Working hand in hand with the land department in the review of future residential land
  • opportunities across the East Central Belt of Scotland.
  • Managing some consultants.
  • Identification of residential development opportunities.
  • Scope to appraise development opportunities and pursue deals.
  • Pursuit of land promotion deals/opportunities may be possible when the regional office matures in the coming years from its current growth phase.

About You

  • Track record in taking housing sites timeously through the planning process and have strong relationships with local authorities in the East Central Belt.
  • You will have proven negotiation skills and an appreciation of the financial impacts of planning outcomes.
  • 6-15 years’ experience in the property sector, and at least 5 of those focussed on town planning.
  • Strong understanding of the planning system, policy and precedents.
  • You will be clear, accurate and efficient.
  • Experience identifying housing sites for acquisition.
  • RTPI member (with RICS membership a plus).
