Dandara has won a highly-respected industry award for the development of the new Zurich office at the Isle of Man Business Park.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme’s National Site Awards recognise those who have achieved the highest standards in considerate construction, and demonstrated the proactive measures they have taken to minimise the impact of their activities on the local neighbourhood, the public, and the environment.

Dandara was awarded a silver accreditation at the prestigious award ceremony which took place on Wednesday, 18th April at Plaisterers’ Hall, One London Wall in London. Project Manager of the Zurich development Len Arnold and Health & Safety Manager, Grant Howard attended the ceremony to receive the award on behalf of the site team which also included Louis Smith (site manager) and Rob Crookhall (site engineer).

Zurich’s new headquarters, completed by Dandara in April 2017, was the first major office development on the Island to receive BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) accreditation. This internationally recognised standard improves the long-term sustainability of a building, helping to reduce emissions, protect the surrounding environment and enhance the wellbeing of those who work in them.

Speaking of the new award, David Thomas, Commercial Director at Dandara, said:

“National Site Awards are awarded only to those that have made the greatest contribution towards improving the image of construction, so to win is an exceptional achievement and we are delighted to be presented with this highly regarded accolade.

The design and construction of Zurich’s purpose-built, state-of-the-art headquarters was an exciting development to be involved with. As a BREEAM accredited building the focus right from the start was creating a sustainable and efficient workplace, so it is a real honour to be recognised in this way.”

CEO of Zurich International, Peter Huber, said:

”’I would like to offer my personal congratulations to Dandara on receiving this award. The team worked closely with us from the initial stages of the build right up to the end, keeping us updated with the building’s progress and ensuring the site was developed to the highest standard.

Our new office provides us with a sustainable and dynamic working environment, enabling us to better collaborate and innovate to the benefit of our customers.”
